Umsebenzi
As one of the participants of the Octopus Programme 2021 she is looking at the practice of umsebenzi. Intrigued by the worldmaking rituals of umsebenzi, with its partial purpose as an act of knowing-by-caring, Nondumiso works through performance and asks: How can one tend to the ghosts of rape? Should we listen to them, as alter to the judicial mechanisms of annihilation or exorcism from our world? How can umsebenzi be a radical performance of imagining a world without rape? Imagining, by listening for the ways rape moves or sits with us unseen, affects our ongoing becomings in our everyday living.
